Hi all,
Looking for some advice from you techie minded folk!
Can't get hold of my husband at work at the mo to ask his advice
I am looking for a cheap laptop for me to use in the evenings whilst watching tv I only go on here a few other sites, sell on ebay and do internet shopping. Don't play games, or watch dvds, use the 2 main computers in house for that and downloading music.
Now to get to the point have seen this laptop advertised locally £150 and am considering it, Brand new apparently IBM thinkpad laptop bought in the USA in november 2006 bought by the gran for her grandson but got the wrong one so this is not needed. It has a pentinium 2 processor, 160mb ram, 9gb hard drive DVD rom, windows office 2000 installed recently and Windows 98. Now these specs make me think it is an older laptop but for what I need what do you think?
My husband can change the windows to XP will it support this?
Sorry so many questions, but not sure.
Let me no your thoughts Cheers.

Hi me again husband just rang me back and told me not to bother too old and wouldn't pay £50 for it.
Cheers anyway.0 -
I do not think your husband would be pleased if you bought this laptop
It was not bought in 2006/5/4. W98 is no longer supported, It will not run XP happily with only 160MB RAM. It is NOT brand new
You will find newer and better, given for free on Freecycle.Rich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.0 -
No I don't think he would be impressed either
My gut instinct was that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be, but she was insistent that it was new when I rang up.
Oh well my hunt for a bargain laptop continues...
Cheers0
