Has anybody got experience of the Belkin Cassette Adaper:
http://www.johnlewis.com/230403909/Product.aspx
What's the view as to whether it produces acceptable sound quality. I have an old Toyota Corolla which has a "molded in" Radio Cassette player for which finding a replacement radio (or CD player) with an Aux In is difficult and likely to be expensive.
I'm not after anywhere near hi-fi quality but I don't want anything that has no top-end (which my experince of tape decks of the past!). The John Lewis description states:
"It reduces noise by automatically maintaining the correct tension within the cassette deck as you drive, so you get an outstanding mobile audio performance."
Can this really be the case by transmitting the signal through the magnetic pick-up of the cassette deck?

Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.

My daughter has one in her Peugeot 206 to connect her iPod. While I haven't taken a lot of notice I can't say that the sound is particularly poor quality, it always struck me as OK and she seems very happy with it.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0

Have you looked in the supermarkets? I bought a Tesco Value one much cheaper, although can't remember how much (about a fiver), and of course I didn't pay for postage. I'm popping in to Tesco later so I'll try to remember to look at the price.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

I use the one I got with an old CD player years ago & used in my company car,I now use it with my phone to play the MP3 tracks on the micro SD card, bear in mind the road noises ect in the car & to be honest, they're on par with listning to a CD or radio in the car, the's no noticable difference.0

They're ok, but can be buzzy, and quieter on one side than the other if they don't align properly.
That depends on the deck as much as the adaptor.
I've used them in several old cars, and find a fm transmitter is much better (until occasional radio stations break through)0 -

My husband used to keep asking me if I wanted to replace my built-in Skoda cassette player in my car but I never wanted the pain of taking the fascia off to prevent it being stolen... skip on a few years and my Skoda cassette player, a cassette adapter & my ipod give me a fantastic set-up! Not been to Tesco yet but going to check out the price for you later.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

I use one I got for a couple of quid about 10 years ago.
Perfectly acceptable given the limitations of standard factory car audio to start with, road noise and the sound quality of mp3s.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
Yep, used a Sony one for years without problem.

You can probably get one from Poundland! The JL one seems a bit expensive.0

I got one for a few quid before and I can't fault it, the quality was at least as good as listening to a radio station. Although I don't remember the name/make. Now I've "upgraded" to a car with a CD player and the FM transmitter gives horrible quality.0
