Tesco click & collect

Switched to using this service a month ago (been an online customer for a while now though) rather than pay for deliovery to the house as its cheaper, not much but every little helps as they say. However what I dont understand is why I have to pay to go and collect it myself? I can understand having to pay for their petrol to come and deliver it to me but why do I have to pay for the click and collect service then pay for my petrol to go and collect it? It wasnt so bad when they do the free click and collect promotions but now they have just caught me out by making a Sunday collection from store £3 not £2 as per in the week. Surely Tesco would make more customers by offering free Click and Collect service to regular internet customers like me?!
Yes I know they have to pay staff and storage fees and this costs more on a Sunday etc. Just wanted to vent.
Thanks

Simples, you have not have had to spend the time picking your order off the shelves, one of their PAID employees had done it for you, which costs. You have saved the picking time, your choice.0

IMO it's still a bargain - £2-£3 for what would usually take at least an hour must be way less than it actually costs them to pay the member of staff to do the shopping.0

i dont think staff get any more, for working on a Sunday.. why not just drive to shop and buy stuff as normal..?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

The staff can get a Sunday premium if they are contracted to work Sundays at Tesco.Competition Wins:

You are still paying for the convenience of not having to shop yourself, £2-3 is a good price for what could take you 30-60 minutes for a big shop.
By the time you take into account the cost of driving to the shop, you may as well just have it delivered.
In general, the delivery service supermarkets is very good, well priced and saves me the hassle of doing it myself and keeps another car off the already congested roads.0
