I had a similar problem as many with this insurance company. I got an insurance policy and they requested email and written no claims proof. I sent the NCD proof via email and received an email confirming receipt of this asking me to wait for a 'validation' email. In the meantime I also sent off the written copy.
Despite the above I started to get emails saying I had not sent my documents and that if I did not send they would cancel my policy. I replied to each one of these emails complaining that I had sent my NCD proof and they had no right to cancel my policy.
After reading a few forums I realised that they do this to customers regularly. I rang the financial ombudsmen (FOS) and made a formal complaint through them. I then sent an email informing ecar that I had made this complaint (having spent 30mins on hold to their cancellations line and given up). They subsequently sprang into action validating my no claims and sending an apologetic email.
So. My advise is don't insure with these guys...but if stuck speak to the FOS and then inform ecar you have done this. Then they will respond...0 -

So only a local call if your errr local....
The website doesnt inspire confidence.

There are other car insurance companies on comparison websites who do the same. I have just had my insurance cancelled without notice. The letter said I had been uninsured for 4 days, and now I cannot go to work. I sent them my proof of 10 years no claims bonus, they say that thy never received it. I have no other copy, and have to start without any no claims. I cannot afford this, and will lose my job. It is an easy way for a broker to make more money, bit they are forgetting about the cost to the individual. A broker has NO product to sell, and make up their own rules to make extra money. I would recommend that people only use insurance companies to avoid this trap. I am sure that auto direct will lose no sleep over this!0

ecarinsurance is a joke. I took a policy out with them because they were cheaper than others. I didn't disclose some points from my Licence which were 6 years old but they were still on my counter part because I didn't sent it back to get it wiped. E car insurance charged me £643 more on top on my £800. They trick you with a cheap quote and then try their best to look for a discrepancy and then charge you.
They charge a lot for cancelation too
All i can say is beware of e car insurance0 -
After reading the above messages and having similar issues over proof of NCD with this company, I feel drpressed, I have supposedly paid for car & breakdown insurance but no documents received for the breakdown cover, now their website has been down for a few days and it infoms me to calla number that cuts me off just after telling me to call their premium nuber instead, a company that states it deals via the web but has no access to their website is just criminal, I will not be dealing with is company after my insurance runs out, even if the cheapest!0

The company closed down 2 years ago. The websites were blank for ages - if it is in business today, it is a different outfit entirely.0

The websites are down due to a security breach a few days ago. A press announcement was made by the parent company - Brightside, I'll try and dig up the link...All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0

t in addition to having to send a scan of both parts of my driving licence I had to submit proof of my no claims discount within a few days or my policy would be cancelled and I'd be charged a £75 cancellation fee and have to admit on future insurance quotes that I'd be declined insurance which would drive up the quote price.
I found this demand to be both inconsistent with the quote process which implied that my insurance details would be checked by ecarinsurance having been entered into the quote rather than me then having to submit my own proof and an unpleasantly aggressive change of attitude once this company had got hold of my payment
Anyway, I logged into my previous insurer's website, looked through all of the policy documents, and managed to find a single document which stated my current NCD which was a downloadable PDF called "Renewal Schedule" which included all my details and stated when my renewal could start (a few days beforehand) and a statement of my NCD earned to date. I downloaded it and emailed it to ecarinsurance.
The next day I received an email from ecarinsurance stating that my document could not be accepted as it didn't show the expiry date of my previous policy and was not a "renewal invitation" and again warned me that if I didn't submit the correct document my policy would be cancelled, I'd be charged £75, etc etc and if I wanted to talk on the phone I'd have to called their £1 per minute 09 number.
It seems highly possible to me that ecarinsurance are intentionally offering very low quotes to win custom simply in order to then be as misleading and pedantic as possible with the veiled aim of getting as many cancellations (and £75 cancellation fees) as possible, as this would be far more profitable than actually providing the insurance.
I'll update with the outcome, but in the meantime is there any news of any similar circumstances out there?[/QUOTE]0 -
i took out car ins through e.car and sent in my proof of ncd they sent them back to me,then E:mailed back saying they were going to cancel my car ins because they never received ncd docs. The best way to contact them is to go to your nearest citizen advice beureu and get them to phone them at the same time ask cab to put in a complaint to f.o.s.& f.a.s.a.0
