DH cycles to the train station every day to get to and from work. He has this bike. He only travels 1 stop which takes him to the other side of our city but that train is always crowded and he used to have to wait for the next train when he had a normal bike. Now he takes the folding bike on the train every time which works out better, we also had to get one as we were having regular breakins in our garden shed so this bike fits nicely folded in half in the porch.

I now own a Brompton after the stem joint snapped on my Dahon.

In to my second year with the Brompton and I'd buy another tomorrow, yes they are expensive but the quality and design are fantastic

Check Dahons out, they don't have the mark up associated with bromptons, and the bigger wheeled ones are nicer to ride too. They do "standard" looking bikes that simply fold in half, but do check regs on any bike sizes if you're on a crowded route.

I do a similar journey (2 miles one end and 3 miles the other) and actually keep a bike at both ends, becasue I hate riding folders, and hate the faff of folding and stowing one on a train. You can also buy 2 decent non folders, and locks, for the price of one folder.
