Northen Rock Mortgage - PPI

Hi,

Does anyone know if Northen Rock used a seperate company for their PPI payments. The reason Im asking is I have been going through my direct debits and I have a direct debit for Legal and General. I originally thought this was related to my home insurance but when I have checked on Legal and General website my policy comes under a protection plan and I aint got a clue what this is for. I have gone right back in my statements and this started when I took out my old mortgage with Northen Rock. This mortgage was cancelled but this payment is still being taken. I have tried to call them but office closed for the weekend so just wondering if anyone else can help. Thanks

Are you sure you never took out a "stand alone" PPI on your old Mortgage as it is your responsibility to cancel it when you cancelled the Mortgage. This could also be the case if the PPI was sold with the Mortgage as Legal & General supplied the insurance, not Northern Rock.
I'm not an expert on Mortgages as I don't have one myself but I do remember reading a post a while back regarding a similar situation and one of the legal eagles magpiecottage replied basically saying what I have said above.
When it boils down to it, it is your responsibility to cancel the PPI as Legal & General wouldn't have been aware the Mortgage was no longer in place

Depends on how you bought the insurance. i.e. through NR or via a broker.

L&G could be life assurance, critical illness cover, PHI or other things.
