Loan / criminal conviction

But now you do have a choice and a chance to make good. To refuse to repay a Credit Union would be pretty shameful, we are not talking about a bank that can afford to write off the debt.
i`m wondering if a CU that lends out £8000 of its MEMBERS money for decorating the house deserve to get it back?0 -
OP if I were in your shoes I personally wouldn't pay it back, call me whatever you like but you didn't use that finance and were bullied to take it.
The moment you call them or offer any form of payment it'll be on your credit-report and ruin it for years to come0 -
You refuse to pay your debts, and the debt is yours, whether you spent the money or not. You clearly do not know the difference between right and wrong.
Once a criminal ...
Once again, I do wish we had a "Bo**ocks" Button for boobies booby!
Whilst agreeing that the debt is legally yours, I can understand what caused you to be in the situation you now find yourself, and you have my sympathy.
There is a middle path available to you if you wish to take it. I would suggest you go and see the Credit Union, explain your circumstances verbally, and offer to pay (again verbally) £1 per month. Tell them that the debt is statute barred but you are prepared to make them this once only offer which they can either accept or reject.
If they reject it, you are in the clear and need not consider the debt again."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

You have really got no clue have you and this is rather judgemental of you. Maybe you should be experiencing a violent relation ship where your partner controls every aspect of your life to understand. I have done and I can only say that I sympathise with the OP and I hope you can find finally closure as you certainly have been punished enoughLBM 11/2009 Total Debts 11/2009 £44624 with DFD 2015

Why are they only asking you to pay and not him?0

The people on here criticising you for not paying it back are not the only judgemental ones on here- the court that CONVICTED you judged you and found YOU guilty. If your partner at the time did actually force you to take out the loan and was violent why was he not prosecuted?
Let's face it you signed the loan and not your partner therefore it is your resposibility, if you wish to use the "I was only 18 and very naive" defence, then perhaps you should have listened to parents friends etc telling you it was a bad idea to have a relationship with a man nearly twice your age.
1.Why did your partner not sign for the loan?
2. How could you possibly spend £8000 to decorate a house?
Please get real and stand up tov your actions and pay for your mistakes?0 -
How could you possibly spend £8000 to decorate a house?
Maybe they were fans of genuine Art Deco or maybe they choose to re-theme in the Palladian style?
Those David Hockney paintings don't come cheap either?
Please think before you type, we all have a right to live in lavish luxury and then not pay back........:rotfl:"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0
