PPI for credit cards?

My elderly aunt (She'll kill me for that) has informed me today that she has 2 credit cards. It turns out she was approached in Liverpool city centre in the week by 2 men asking her, 'Do you have any CCs?' They then offered to help her get back the PPI she would have paid (?) can anyone point me in the direction to help her, as I have told her to ignore these parasites!
she is 74yrs old and would have been over the age of 65 when she took them out, she only has her pension to live off. Therefore in the event of any mishap, how would the Bank(s) have got their money back?
