bluetooth question

I'm trying to get my laptop and phone to communicate via bluetooth.

On my computer, i've gone into the Control Panel and clicked on add a device.

My phone has bluetooth switched on and i've checked the "make visible" box too.

My computer is recognising my wireless printer, just not my phone.

I can't work out why. Can any body help?

Your wireless printer connects by wi-fi, not Bluetooth.
So I have to ask the obvious-is your laptop Bluetooth-enabled? If so, is it switched on?
If the answer to the former is no, then you'll need to buy a USB Bluetooth dongle.

  • to be honest, i'm not sure if it's blue tooth enabled or not. How do i find that out?
  • If its bluetooth enabled you will have a bluetooth symbol in the notifications area next to the wifi signal.

    Make and model usually helps.

  • I don't think my laptop has bluetooth.
when i go on the acer uk website, put in the make and model, look down the list of driver downloads, for some reason bluetooth isn't on the list!!

i thought technology was supposed to make your life easier

Unless you tell us the model, we'll never know.

OP, you need a Bluetooth Dongle, you can get them cheap, I have seen them from around £3-4.

or something like this, for the princely sum of £1.50 (not that I'm endorsing this product, I've not used one, but just to give an idea of what's out there)
