ppi offer from rbs

Hi

I hope someone can offer some advice.

I took a loan with rbs quite a few years ago but was made to feel that because of my age at the time i would only be accepted for the loan if i took ppi - even though with my government job i would be covered.

I put in a claim in december 2011 and they have got back in contact with me this morning.

I only claimed on one loan but they have told me in their letter that as it was part of a consolidation loan they have investigated all chains.

They have sent an "OFFER" of £800 on one loan and £1049 on the second.

Whilst i am happy to get a reply and an offer i dont feel this reflect the ppi i paid.

On the paperwork for ONE of the loans it states i paid £2900 for the ppi.

The second loan they refer to i know i paid even more for ppi.

Can anyone offer any advice as to whether i should pursue this further to claim the full amount as the letter states this was an "offer"

If so what would be the next step? do i contact bank again or go to ombudsman?

Has anyone had an offer and taken it further?

Thank you for reading and i am grateful for any replies x

    Hi neenee2012,
You say you have paperwork to prove you paid more, was this copied and sent off when you put in your complaint? If not photocopy all the paperwork that you have that proves what you have paid and write back to them sending the copies and ask them to think again.
If one loan was used to pay off another you would have received a rebate of PPI when this was done and they would have deducted this off the offer but it wouldn't have made that much difference. You should get back ALL PPI paid + 8% standard interest - any rebate ;)
    Successes
    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)

You only get redress for ppi that you paid.

The loan that was settled by the second loan would not have run to term end and you will have been given a rebate of ppi, when they redress this loan, they give you the ppi paid to date and 8% less the rebate amount.

Was the second loan settled early or did it run to term?.
