Door knob conundrum!

I'm not much of a DIYer (as you will be able to tell from this post!) but I've recently had new doors fitted in my flat and the door knobs I have bought only have a rosette on one side of the door? Is this normal? I bought them in a set, but presumed they would have a rosette on each side so they would look the same! Ir has some one gone and robbed them from one side?? Help me!!

It sounds like you have a pair of handles to fit a "Rim" lock. This is a lock that is fitted on the inside face of the door, not fitted into the edge of the door like most modern locks are.
The handle with the "rose" (rosette) is screwed on the outside of the door and the other handle (without rose) is fixed straight on the lock.0
