No bill from british gas

Do companies have to send you a bill by a certain time?
I know that sounds weird, but basically my problem is i moved into my new house on the 20.10.06 and i have not had a gas/elec bill i can pay from british gas yet because they still address the bill as 'to the occupier/s' and won't accept a payment from me until its addressed to me.
Im looking at a massive amount to pay in one go the longer it takes them to address the bill to me. My last bill was over £200 at the end of Jan and i wanted to pay it but couldn't because again it said to the occupier.
Its really annoyed me, so much im in the process of being switched over to another supplier, surely its not that hard to address the bill to me, especially when i rang them on 21.10.06 with meter readings and gave my name...

British Gas are a pain with regards to previous occupiers.
I gave them the same information as you but they kept on sending bailiff letters for the previous tenants, so I sent them all back with a letter explaining. Two weeks later I got a phonecall saying I need to speak to the homemovers service and he put me through. A woman said "Hello" and then cut me off.
Then a couple of weeks later I got an email asking for my meter serial number.
Try emailing homemovers@house.co.uk
Otherwise, just take your bill to a post office with a cheque if you think the meter readings are right and it's accurate. They'll take payment whatever it says on the bill I think.0 -
Have you called BG back since October? If not then that might be a good idea. Around 20% of accounts on their 'wonderful new billing system' don't go through first time.0

Yes i rang them in December when i got my 1st bill asked them why it was still addressed to the occupier, lady took my name AGAIN and said it would definately appear on my next bill.
Jan came round, still addressed to occupier. Will email them i think now.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
