Hi - we want to get away for a couple of nights towards the end of this week. the cheapest I can find for a (Dover - Calais) ferry is £80 (with 4x4). Anyone know of anything cheaper?
Many thanks in advance,

There are a few last minute shops on the main road at Dover that you can walk in and ask for the best price. My cheapest yet was 15quid (that was for a car with up to 4 people returning that night)FREE THE WM30

I'm going Dover- Calais Friday morning 7am and back Sunday at about 2pm. Booked through Ferrysavers with SeaFrance and it's £67. Taking a Saab 93 with 2 passengers0

Does it have to be Calais?
Speedferries run from Dover to Boulogne and Norfolk Line run from Dover to Dunkerque. Both very cheap and efficient.
Salyou can't take it with you...0 -

£50 open return for this year, be quick ends in 2 days0 -
I just had a look at the Seafrance website and depending on your times of travel you can get a return for one car with four adults for GBP70, outbound Friday morning, return fairly late on Sunday.
There are also a couple of online shops like Ferrysavers that occasionally do have good prices - I say "occasionally" because in most cases it turns out that it was cheaper to book directly with the ferry co.
Speedferries is a good alternative, I've used them a couple of times and just purchased an open return for use later in the year.0 -

We have just booked for July
BUT I went through "regular tickets" and it was cheaper !!! £43 return not £50
so check under regular tickets before booking the "celebration " tickets0 -
Hi - hope it's not too late yet: try Transeuropaferries if you're prepared to drive the extra hour from Ostend in Belgium. They have 48 hr returns @ £35.
Little-known operator out of Ramsgate, mostly freight but take cars as well. Dedicated port facilities at either end.
Have a nice trip!0 -

The main advantage I see with the celebration tickets is that they allow you to lock in a price, not that they're the cheapest around. Due to my circumstances I often can't book fixed-date tickets way in advance to get the cheapest prices so these tickets work well for me.0 -

Yes of course the fixed price and "open date" is good but
I was just stating my facts just in case it helped someone to save a few £s0
