The fob i use to open my old zafira is on its last legs.
I have to get the soldering iron on it again this evening..
The fob is part of the key,so its going to cost quite a few quid
Is there any after market fob that will copy the signal from my existing fob, or is it a brand new key?

Try most keycutters/Timpsons shoe repair shops. They should be able to code the exact key on the remote. The blade is just reused and also houses the chip for the immobiliser.
