so its superfluous to the headlight then and wasnt needed at manufacture

i dont think so really do you:)

Back in those "good old days" mentioned on another thread they always used to supply extra nuts & bolts from the factory - top of my toolbox used to be full of the things when I finished a job :D

No, it was because you were driving-around with half the bits of your engine missing.

Aye, but there was no underbonnet computer to notice, so it was all good :D:beer:

Because I didn't think they would cause MOT fail and because I didn't consider them serious faults.

The broken bracket didn't cause the beam to be out of alignment or unsecure so wasn't dazzling other motorists.

Obviously it was unsecure or it would have passed a MOT. Obviously it was out of alignment or it would have passed a MOT.

The test they do for security of the headlight is just to give it a prod, not even a hard one.
  • You could have just taken the fail sheet and gone home and thought about your options first. Just because your car fails an MOT does not mean you have to get the same garage to fix it there and then.

    headlight bracket broken,

Just had this on the Jeep (beam too low) has been broken since it was repaired 3 years ago and has been fine for last two MOTs. Don't know why they woud fail it this time (looked marginal to me) but a zip lock soon fixed the problem.
