penalty on tyne & wear metro
my teenage son received a penalty notice on the metro today for using a student ' i am vip' ticket (he found out it's only for use on the bus)although he realises he has to pay the fine, but what has cheesed him off is that he's been using this kind of ticket 3 times a week since october 2011 and has been asked to show his ticket on numerous occasions by instectors and the police , (anyone who knows the metro sytem will know that inspectors are always around either on the metro itself or in the stations ie monument etc...) he has always shown his ticket and there has never once been anyone saying to him,"this ticket is only for the bus use" apart from today!! the odd thing is his mate had also had his checked by another inspector while my sons was getting checked, his mate was told his ticket was fine, strangethat as they both had the same kind of tickets!, and what has annoyed him is that the reason code they gave was '00' which means no ticket , where as he did have a ticket but just not the right one, so the code as far as i'm concerned should of been '06' meaning 'other' what he'd like is some kind of advice, he knows it's pointless appealing against it but what he would like to do is write a complaint letter, as its been shown that even though he'd bought the wrong kind of ticket the ticket inspectors who are inspecting are not doing the job properly because as said his tickets have been checked in the past an no one has ever questioned him before until today.
