Hi there. I'm the owner of Filmstalker, the site that is hosting the competition.
First of all I'd just like to say thanks for posting the details of the competition here, it really is appreciated.
However I'd just like to point out a few things to alleviate any of your potential fears and explain the link in question:just to advise if you click on the link from this page it tracks you.! So copy and paste the link to a new page
I don't track you any more than any other website. For the competition the reason I use this style of link is to make sure that people who are entered into the competitions are the ones who visit the competition pages. Once the competition is over the entries are all deleted.
Filmstalker is a one person non-profit hobby. I run it in my spare time outside of my day job and the costs are paid for by advertising and myself. Obviously the advertising only works if it is seen, that's why I like to make sure people are going to the pages to enter competitions.
The other side is that the companies who offer me prizes to give away ask about visitor statistics, not just how many people entered but how many people visit Filmstalker and the competition pages. Getting these prizes to give away relies on people visiting the site to enter the competition, the more that bypass it, the less figures I have to entice marketing companies this way for giveaways.
So while I really do appreciate the competition links being posted around the internet, I really do need people to visit the page to enter, the details gathered are to help prove you entered through the site as the competition requirements state, and bear in mind you're passing over your name and address in the email anyway so the referring page isn't a lot to ask.
Again, I want to reiterate I do appreciate the fact that you have posted the link here and don't wish that to stop, I just want to assure you all that I'm not doing anything dodgy with the information and I'm merely using it to make sure the competition requirements are met so that I keep getting prizes to give away and can pay for the hosting.
Many thanks
Richard

I like the idea of competitions, not so keen when competitions are on blog/affilate sites. My son is now an ‘entrepreneur’. That’s what you’re called when you don’t have a job. – Ted Turner0
