EDF - Online Version 8 ending 31/3/12 - Help???
Options
Hi Guys
as the title suggests my online version 8 is due to end and I'm confused as to what tarriff to go on now.
EDF have said that their fixed 2013 is the best rate they have but this means my DD going up from £109 to £143 per month
I have done a search with money supermarket with this as my tarriff and the only ones that are coming out better seem to save me about £12 a year!!
To me for £12 a year it doesnt seem worth changing, having said that EDF used to be brill for customer service but from what I have read on here it now appears that they have gone really bad.
anyway any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance
Jo

The two tariffs are not 31% different in price, so I suspect that the proposed increase in your DD is due to your existing DD being inadequate to cover ongoing usage-or to clear existing debt.
Put your consumption into a comp site for EDF Fix 2013, and if you divide that by 12, that will tell you what your DD should be on that tariff.
EDF's computerised DD setting system is notoriously flakey anyway. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

I'm in the same position as you I'm also on "Online Saver 8" I phoned them up about a week or so ago about staying with them and switching to "Fixed 2013" they said the best thing would be to wait untill a few days before the end then phone them and see what they had available at that time. I got the feeling they might be bringing some more options to there range of Tariffs pretty soon. Here's hopeing anyway.0 -

In relation to your current monthly payment what is your current balance?
It is true that the new MyAccount DD recalculation system is frequently "dysfunctional" but at the moment, on weekday mornings, the phone is answered reasonably promptly and the staff (at least in the morning:)) are invariably personable. I have had lots of "dodgy" DD recalculations but have always had the previous payment restored, and most recently an account balance refunded, without protest. Unlike forum tales about E.ON.0
