Missing Cat in Maindee, Newport

Hia folks,
My elderly puss cat has been missing since Wednesday morning. He's 16 years old and has never stayed away from home before - it's unusual for him to disappear for more than a couple of hours.
He followed my lodger down to the bus stop on Chepstow Road, and then turned to go back up Albert Avenue towards home. But he never came back in and never ate his breakfast that day, or since.
He has my phone number engraved on his collar so I would expect a phonecall... since no-one has rung I'm worried that he may be trapped somewhere and unable to get out.
If you live in or near the Maindee area, or know anyone who does, please ask them to look in the garden sheds and to get in touch if they see him! His listing on the pet register is here: http://www.nationalpetregister.org/mp/37461.htm

Otherwise, lots of posters and knocking on doors for neighbours to check garages etc. Also go out at 3 am when quiet and call where you think the cat might have gone.
There are catforums where there are loads of tips

The first link has a cats lost and found with a really helpful stickied post for things to do
Thank you - yes I have done all these things!
- Four people responded to my leaflet campaign with sightings, but all of them were on Wednesday or earlier and one was unconfirmed (there's another black cat living nearby).
- The City Council street cleaning team have not picked up any black cats since Wednesday.
- He's on the national register, the vets' registers, Gumtree, MyMoggy.com and just about every other site covering my area (and I've course I've also checked for 'found pets' on there). I have given a lot of detail but omitted one fact for verification.
- I've hunted my house / garden and urged my neighbours to do the same. On Monday I'll be going out with one of the lodgers to knock on doors and ask if we can search people's gardens and outbuildings for them.
- I go out every night at 11pm and again at 4am to walk around the area, listening and quietly calling. Luckily it's a very low-traffic area that's silent and brightly-lit.
I'm 100% convinced that he's dead, trapped or adopted because he couldn't possibly stay hidden this long by choice. He's a real people cat, very chatty and always following people around... plus we're a close-knit neighbourhood (we even have a Facebook group) and everyone on this street knows him well. They all see him every day... until Wednesday. Even the local vet sees him regularly - it's just 50 yards away so he often strolls in for a natter when I'm out.

Another went missing for 4 days - pretty sure it got chased and landed up in a wooded area. Son and I went calling and cat reappeared through catflap at midnight.
So I have been lucky. I feel for you as I know how awful it is.
