"Homeguard" policy was not PPI

Q. When is PPI not PPI?
A. When it's "only" a life insurance policy called "Homeguard".
I mistakenly thought that the "Homeguard" policy my husband paid on our mortgage was PPI. The repayment sum reduced annually with the reduction in the amount outstanding on the mortgage. Barclays say that a life insurance policy is not PPI although both pay out on the death of the mortgagee. I am confused.

Q. When is PPI not PPI?
PPI is a specific product. It is either PPI or it is not. No debate on the subject.A. When it's "only" a life insurance policy called "Homeguard".
No. That if a lfie assurance policy. PPI is issued by general insurance companies. Not Life assurance companies. Life assurance is issued by life assurance companies. There is not a single area of overlap.
Its a bit like saying when is home insurance not home insurance. When its car insurance.. I am confused.
Clearly. However, your complaint would have made the complaints handler at Barclays have a bit of a laugh. Although it could well have frustrated them as well as it indicates the sort of fraudulent/try-it-on complaints that are so often seen.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
