Bought X220 tablet 10.2 Android 2.2
From A1CSLtd, online via Amazon dot com in early Dec 2011, given to me a s a gift atChristmas
Paid bydebit card
Devicewas rarely used in first 3 weeks due to faulty broadband, not fault withproduct.
Faultsbecame apparent as follows –
1. thetablet has ceased charging when connected to the mains power. (original powerpack was replaced before I received the item)
2. the tablet power cable must be held in placeto secure connection.
3. the tablet frequently does not power upwhen switched on and will only reactivate when the reset button is used.
4. only one usb port works, the port nearestthe top (landscape) has never worked.
5. GPS will not calibrate/update despitefollowing enclosed instructions.
What theysaid- Upon receipt, we shall replace your tablet + we shall include acomplimentary car charger with replacement. We reallywish to serve you better and request you to accept our apologies for theinconvenience caused.
So….Iposted it back at cost to me, they eventually emailed to say it arrived and thescreen was cracked and ‘why didn’t I tell them that?’ It did not have acrack when it left my possession. They now want me to pay £49 to replace thescreen.
My issue is this….why should I pay for a screen on a product I didn’t damageand when they agreed to replace the faulty device in the first place?
Any inputgreatly received.

Did you pack it well enough so that it couldn't get damaged in transit?
Did you insure it whilst in transit?0 -
Yes, it was in the packing it arrived in and poped into a large bubble wrap jiffy bag.
It was posted 'special delivery' by RM so I think it has cover to £500.

Yes, you'll need to claim off RM. Probably best to speak to them first before letting the repair proceed, they may want to examine the damage.
I think A1CS are being pretty reasonable considering that they don't have to do anything for you as it wasn't bough by you so you have no contract with them.0 -

I agree. You should contact royalmail on this situation. Check with A1CS if they can offer you any other solution (rather than you waiting for royalmail to resolve it, which takes its own time).0 -
UPDATE: A1CS have agreed to replace tablet as per original agreement fron initial faults with their device.
The issue regarding the cracked screen has been resolved by me agreeing in a 50-50 split of cost to replace it. It will cost me £25 to repair a product that will be sent to their refurb store.
Happy with the outcome overall.
