Low Pressure light on my shower keeps coming on :(

Anyone know why this might be? When I first moved into my flat, very occasionally (once a fortnight) the shower low pressure light would flick on, and the shower would go ice cold for about 20 seconds. I didn't think much of it.

However roll on a few months, and this happens multiple times during each shower, which is very annoying. It also goes super hot first and then ice cold, so I am guessing it's cutting off from overheating.

It seems that if I shower during the day it occurs more than if I shower at night, but it's become a huge nuisance.

I'm going to contact my letting agency to inform them, but I am wondering if anyone knows if this is likely to be a shower fault, or a water supply fault. I live on the 2nd floor of a building with about 12 flats in, and I believe at least 6 of them are supplied from the same water inlet. I recently had a meter fitted which had to be fitted inside my flat as that's where the pipe split, but I don't think that has affected it at all.

All advice and comments welcome :j

First of all you will probably need a plumber or sparky, it could well be the shower filter has got some scale or other debris blocking it causing the loss of pressure.
The other fault could well be the number of flats on your shared supply thats causing the loss of pressure, one way around that if needed would be to fit a pressurisation unit to keep the pressure throughout your flat constantly the same.

Might sound random, but try taking the shower head off and sticking it in some vinegar for a few hours - a scaled up head can cause this sort of problem, and if you are in a hard water area a few months is enough to get there. The other possibility is some crud from having the water meter installed has found its way through to the shower and is blocking the flow.

If it goes hotter first, before the underpressure light comes on, then it sounds to me like there is an intermittent loss of water pressure in the mains.

If all the flats are on the same supply, it could be something as simple as somebody else turning a tap on full blast so less water gets to the shower.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

The early bir catches the worm. Get up earlier and beat the other flats to the shower. Pain in the backside though.

Other suggestions sound like good ideas and if they don't work try and get the mains pessure tested.
