I certainly don't have anything other than normal business use for myself, even if I collect customers goods and take them for repair, and return them later.

Though of cause just because it is what you do doesnt mean that it is correct :A

It MAY be considered that they need Class 3 business use (http://www.confused.com/car-insurance/guides/classes-of-use) which unlike Class 1 is normally chargeable. I do however suspect that you wouldnt get a consistent answer if you asked different insurers or even underwriters within an insurer.

would have thought for most insurers that would be fine as the goods you are transporting are not part of a service for a second party, to a third party.

eg company owns product and phones you to deliver to a client, thought would fall under hire&reward.

    Hi Everyone,

Good news, the insurer agreed to pay the claim and have offered £6000 less the excess of £600 so we get £5400 which is great news, this was agreed a week ago today and the log book and MOT have been sent off to the insurers. Not sure why but the insurer changed the wifes status to Housewife and then put another £12 per month onto the policy, apparently this is for the next two months.

What happens now, do they pay out quickly, is the general speed of turn around now and will they automatically cancel the policy although we will have to replace the vechile.

    Any thoughts

Some policies do end with a write off, so you need to find out from your insurer what will happen (others let the policy carry on, and you can put the replacement on it (if acceptable to them), others give you a time limit to put a new car on the policy)
