get rid of your anti virus installed programmes that came with the netbook and down load google chrome for surfing and dont open emails folders from stangersProcessor & memory are fine for a netbook, should run fast enough for what's required, i'm using my trusty 3 year old Samsung NC10 with 1gb ram and it does the job okay, mind you that's using XP not 7.
Agreed it could be installed programmes that came with the netbook that is slowing it down or Mcafee/Norton AV.
Avast or Avira antivirus which are both free would work well also worth downloading Malwarebytes and CCleaner but worth removing any rubbish programmes first before you decide to download anything else.
Ive done that and never had any virus

That works assuming all your contacts do likewise, yeah!!!
Unfortunately the latest scam doing the rounds, the "2 incredible photos" comes from friends/relatives that have also been caught.
Always be more wary of emails with attachments - if in doubt, keep out.0

Hate to disagree but you can if you are using Windows 7 starter 32bit OS which the OPs netbook is running, obviously 2GB ram would improve things.
