Problem with the free fon router.

Hi,

I have set up my router and found it very easy to use, with excellent coverage.

But I can not access the management console. I have tried everything. The router uses the correct ip 192.168.10.1. But when i type the orange screen briefly appears but then I get a 404 message!!
Any ideas anyone??

Thank-you.

  • What's the make and model of your router?

Reading between the lines, you seem to be connecting wirelessly; does the problem occur if you connect to it with an Ethernet cable?

Can you access web sites OK?
  • Hi,

here is a picture of it:-

It is specially made for fon.

The router itself works perfectly. I can access the internet by wireless form both my laptop and desktop.

I have tried putting the ip address with an ethernet connection and that doesn't work either.

Although the router only has one port which is for the internet cable- will that port work for that aswell??

    thanks.

  • Are you connecting to the MyPlace network - not the FON_AP network?

Are you entering the correct username and password? admin, admin

Which browser are you using? Try using IE.

It may be that they have locked it down so that you can't change any settings. Telewest used to do something similar with the netgear routers they used to supply.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Yes I am connecting to my place - I don't get to the log-in screen.

I put the ip address in my browser 192.168.10.1 press return the orange screen briefly flashes up and the address at the top changes to:-

    http://192.168.10.1/cgi-bin/status.sh

but on the screen I get :-

    404 Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server

I have tried a friends router ( from FON the same as mine) with the same setup and it worked fine!!! The only difference it that it has never been connected to the internet where as mine has.So I think I have updated the router. BUT the manual still says you can get to the management console!!!

In the on-line manual it says you can access the management console.

    thanks
