I applied for a tesco credit card and they asked me for my p60 and three months worth of bank statements.
Is this normal?
I have loads of other credit cards and have never had to provide anything like this to obtain them. I am reluctant to see what I've got going in and out of my account in case they use it for some marketing reason!

They are purely after some sort of proof of income.
It is probably either because your combined credit limits are a bit high in their opinion or for some reason they couldn't find your credit record and need some other proof.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

It suggests they are suspicious about your income, thinking it may be exagerated or include bonus payments as salary.
You have little choice. You will either have to supply it if you want the card or cancel your application.0 -

Personally, I would tell them not to bother, I hate when companies want to see such private info, and you have no idea who is going to be looking at it. It would make me feel dirty and violated for some reason!
Bank statements are personal to me, but its your choice. If you have nothing to hide and want the card, then you will need to do it. I'll be cancelling my Tesco card once the agreed 0% rate expires in August, they havent done anything good for me.

Actually with all this indentity fraud going around I welcome a company that is taking a bit of responsibility.
If more companies carried out checks I think fraud would be reduced.
I am sure at some places I could sign my credit card receipt Micky mouse and they wouldnt notice.0
