My Medion laptop has just died and I wonder if anyone could recommend a reliable new one. I am not technical and only surf the net, competitions etc. so do not want to pay a lot of money but do not want a slow one.
Thanks

Of course it all depends on your budget and what you want to do with the laptop. As a general run around laptop I've just bought this which seems to me a very good deal...

What do you think of the Toshiba C660D-1CV? I understand there are better processors though was thinking of mentioning this as it's a little cheaper than the above, and considering what the OP is intending to use the laptop for.
Argos are currently selling these for £299.99 though it's worth bearing in mind JL's warranty and customer service are more superior.0 -
Thank you so much for your replies, I shall look at both of these and hopefully choose one, probably go for the cheaper option.0

Before deciding, my best bet is to go to the techie board and ask for advice.
I only know there are better processors out there and it may also be unnecessary for you to get the one on JL's website when considering what you're intending using it for. It appears to me that, that amount of RAM may be unnecessary.0 -
Have you tried Lenovo? heard some good reviews about them. I am sure you can always find a good one under your budget from there, if not then try Dell inspiron or HP. And don't forget to shop without a cashback...I would recommend even if you dont use it too much, but buy a reliable one.0

I've an Inspiron 1525 which I got a couple years ago and is pretty reliable. I did have a few problems in the past though that was due to a virus, not had any problems since I got it sorted and after downloading Microsoft Security Essentials. I was also advised to use Microsoft Internet Explore as my browser for extra security though I'm sure it would do no harm to use others if you ever needed one as a back up.
Some stores still sell Inspiron 1525's though it might be advisable to get a newer modle.0 -
I recommended this one on another thread for £300 including delivery from Ebuyer.
