I want to start playing online multiplayer games. Warcraft seems really good but I'm not sure if I want to pay a subscription fee that they charge. Are there any games similar to warcraft in which I can play for free?

not so much similar but war rock is good and free its a 1st person shooter which you gain levels in,, there is one like warcraft which is free i cant remember it though,, be warned warcraft will ruin your life it takes over lots of peoples lives,,some one actually died because he didnt get up for like 4days or something playing a game like it

There's a hole load of MMORPG's (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) on the market and a ton on the way. http://www.mmorpg.com/ normally has plenty of information on which ones are out there now, and which are coming soon.

Believe me though, once you get into them, they are the future of computer gaming...you really won't believe some of these out there, quite literally another living, breathing world.

Personally, I've been through EQ (Everquest), EQ2 (Everquest2), DOAC (Dark Age of Camelot), WOW (World of Warcraft), GW (Guild Wars) and a few more lesser known ones, although at the moment I'm getting heavily involved in a new one that's just been released called "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes". Very good and an enormous game world. On the way are MMORPG games such as "Conan" and "Lord of the Rings Online", although you'll find they pretty well ALL have some sort of month charge.

...although, to be honest, the scale of these types of games mean that a recurring subscription fee is often the best way to ensure new content is constantly added to the game-world for each MMORPG game.

You can get a free trial for guild wars! Trying asking on a fansite like Guru. Ive been playing GW for over a year and its bloody great, plus there are no fee's :cool:

theres rp called tribal wars which is free, i do think guild wars is better
