Changing electricity meter - Questions

I guess these meters have a value, and it probably pays the electric company to swap over rather than stock up or buy new.If you have a customer going off E7 you probably have someone wanting to go onto E7.0

OK.
The general concensus here after ploughing through all the different views and opinions is that the meter does not HAVE to be changed.
My question is: we've always signed up for standard tariffs, but have been billed with readings for day and night. So obviously somewhere along the line our connection request is being diverted onto the E7 tariff.
So, we should be on the cheapest supplier (at the time of last switch) but because we're now receiving day and night billing at different rates, we're not.
How do we sort this out? Do we just compare the prices as usual, and then phone up the chosen company and explain the situation to them? I suppose then we wouldn't be able to benefit from any cashback gained by switching onlineKnow me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0 -
The best bet is to speak with your chosen company as they may have different procedures, and just ask em if you switch on line how you will be charged. They may say switch and they'll amend the rate afterwards, switch and select std and it will go through, or they may say they can only sort it through the callcentre, but only that company will know!0
