Praise for Microsoft Support

As many people have probably been in the same situation I thought I would post about my unexpected success.

My step son has Xbox Live, which I used to pay for via Paypal. Last year in December he started a free trial for Zune and he didn't bother reading that they would try to charge me £8.99 a month until he cancels (or tell me he had done it!)

I had cancelled the Paypal subscription so £8.99 was being charged to the Microsoft account. I had been trying to pay the balance but the system was down so I decided to contact them via chat support and a lovely guy called Philippe wiped the charges and removed all the old payment information so my step son could not do it again.

So thank you Philippe at Microsoft. I think it helped by not going in all guns blazing and got a result far better than what I was looking for. :D

Microsoft support (genuine MS support, not the scammers who phone you at home pretending to be MS, or any of the OEM's doing their own teir 1 support, but real MS support) is actually rather good, and gets a bad press which I don't feel they deserve. Great to see you had a good experience.

I have had 'follow the sun' support for a product glitch. Once they confirmed it as a bug and that it was blocking me from being able to work, they literally worked around the clock (ie following the sun) until they could patch the issue for me. And it was free (incident charge is refunded if it is a genuine bug)
