Mailing bags for posting

I normally buy my mailing bags for posting off ebay but on the last two occasions I have bought them they have smelt strongly of smoke inside and I have had to return them as I mainly use them for posting clothes. I know now this can be a common problem with them so does anyone know of any on ebay or another site where I can purchase without having this problem ?

There is a seller on ebay who sells coloured bags, they are great- someone on here recommended them to me. Completely smell free and very strong.

Look for the seller with bright red / orange and pink bags.

  • I persume that you bought the grey ones?

Try the coloured - they aren't made from recycled plastic so they don't have the smoke smell. I changed all mine from grey to coloured after having 2 complaints (they weren't clothes & we don't smoke) and since we've had nothing.

The coloured are slightly more expensive but look nice and I still get mine off eBay
  • I also tried bags from ebay. Great collections.
  • Ohhh if you do get coloured the pink ones are generally more expensive. We currently have 5 different sizes and all different colours.

I personally like the black, red and purple - I really like the pink but don't use it anymore as I found a cheaper colour instead & I've found that often the yellow looks like a sick yellow if you know what I mean.
  • Very pleased with some bags I bought from this seller: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/JTL-Packaging-Supplies?_trksid=p4340.l2563

I love the coloured bags but I always use peel and seal plastic bags anyway for clothing so if I use grey mailing bags they don't transfer their smell.

I find that leaving the grey bags to air before using gets rid of the smell.
Those of you who use coloured bags, do you use document envelopes for the addresses or write on the bags in permanent pen. I have used pink bags before, thought they were great until I realised lots of my parcels were going missing, the addresses were rubbing off in the post even though I was using Sharpie pens, I was only getting them back because my address sticker was on the back. When I went back to the ebay seller they knew permanment pens would not work on the bags but had omitted to put this in the listing.

Good to know. I just buy rolls of white address labels - they seem to stick better to the coloured bags for some reason!
  • The coloured one are great, I buy mine at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/All-Pack-Solutions, and as long as I buy the brightly coloured ones I've never had a problem with quality or smell
  • Thanks everyone for your recommendations it was the grey one's I purchased but I will be buying coloured ones in future.
