postage costs

I've just sold an item and realised that the buyer lives in Jersey which is part of the UK. So does that mean that the postage cost will be the same as posting to mainland uk?
Thanks

Standard mail sent via Royal mail is charged at UK rates as Jersey has a UK post code. Couriers may well charge extra.
Strangely enough I've had a little flurry of Channel Island buyers just recently, sent two to Guernsey and Jersey yesterday.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Don't forget you still need to add a customs label when sending goods to Jersey.0

I asked yesterday at my main 'crown ' post office as I had no blank forms and they told me I didn't need one! Hoping it still gets there and I do have both a postal receipt and cop to argue my case if it doesn't.

It's just treated as part of the UK, so no special treatment needed. I sent a monitor to Shetland the other month with no problems.0

According to royalmail website, a customs declaration is required for Jersey & Geurnsey
You also need a Customs declaration for packages containing goods sent to the Channel Islands – postage rates to the Channel Islands are the same as those within the UK however Customs declarations are necessary.
Channel Islands
Baliwick of Jersey
Jersey, Minquiers and Ecre’hous, Pierres de Lecq, Les Dirouilles
Baliwick of Guernsey
Alderney, Sark, Herm, Brecqhou, Brecqhou, Casquets, Jethou, LihouMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -

Gah, it's so frustrating that what you get told differs from Post Office to Post Office, or differs from what the website says (the PO website says that you need one).
I would imagine it would still get there though. There must be loads of people who just send stuff without thinking about it, and I can't imagine they would turn all that mail back.0 -
Thanks for all of your replies. The Royal Mail website price calculator is a little misleading for posting packages to Jersey0

genarally, you should always state that postage is to the mainland uk only, and then email the vendor for islands/NI etc..
for big/heavy items, you need to include the highlands too, as most/all couriers charge extra now.Get some gorm.0 -
In short ... yes, yes it is...
and you don't need customs labels for anywhere in the EU .... which due to my poor knowledge of geography I'm assuming Jersey is

This isn't quite true, there are parts of the EU where you still need to use a Customs Label.
From the RM website:
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=400033&mediaId=400362
However you will also need to complete a customs document for the following EU destinations.
Andorra, Canary Islands, Gibraltar, San Marino, Vatican City State
You also need a Customs declaration for packages containing goods sent to the Channel Islands – postage rates to the Channel Islands are the same as those within the UK however Customs declarations are necessary.
But as has been noted above, some POs give out different advice.
