Welcome PPI claim, very difficult start

After reading on here about welcome being dealt with by fscs, I dropped fscs an email in November.

They called me on my number i'd given them advising me that an application form for a ppi reclaim had been sent to my old address in early 2011. I asked for a new application form to my new address as I'd moved in 2010 and my redirection had finished hence me not receiving an application form. They got me to confirm dates of my welcome loan, amount, password etc. The loan was from 2005 so even remembering the given password was difficult!

They told me that I would have to send proof of my new address before they could send the application form... so I photocopied my drivers licence with my new address on and sent it in.

I heard nothing until december when I had my ID returned with a letter stating that they had no details for me on their system and If I wanted to reclaim PPI then i'd have to provide them with my loan information and past addresses.
Now given that FSCS had written to me with an application form in the first instance would tell me that they do have my details on record.

I sent off another letter to them in January stating that they had acknowledged my details by telephone and previously by sending me an application form, that they had my ID and proof of new address but had returned it to me claiming they knew nothing of me and could they please just send the application form now.

I received another letter last week saying that they were sorry I'd been informed incorrectly, I am on their system but as i've not yet provided the ID requested, they can't send the application form! Are they incredibly dumb or just stalling for time?

I was under the impression that the FSCS had looked into all of welcomes dealings and knew who had paid PPI and who hadn't, those that had were invited to reclaim... so why the hell is it so difficult to get the application form to even start the claim?

I photocopied my driving licence which shows my current address, specimen signature, date of birth, photograph etc and also sent a photocopy of my passport. They stated on their letter that i'd have to send a verified bank statement, rental agreement, letter from HRMC as proof however I don't get bank statements, they are all online, I don't have any letters from HRMC dated within the last month and I don't have a rental agreement. Even if I did, why the hell should I take my time to go get them verified by a solicitor or post office counter?

So in my letter i've said that my passport and drivers licence are government verified and if they are good enough to allow me to drive and flit around the world then they'll have to be good enough ID for them too.

its a bloody nightmare, I am getting riled already and I've not even managed to get the application form to the correct address yet lol

What a lot of messing about for you :mad:
Hope they get their finger out now and do the claim.
