Just a footnote, I have never changed a part in a ball valve as it is always best to change the complete unit. It would take longer sourcing a part, as there are just so many variations of ball valves out there. I can go to my van now and find at least 20 different types/makes. We all think we are the best thing since sliced bread, so less of the feather displays, it just confuses some of the OP's even more.

Tigger, I'm really not interested in a 'who can wee highest contest'.

The simple fact of the matter is that you, and I, are not 'normal'. We have a sense of social responsibility where we'll do stuff for a poor old dear who's not a pot to wee in. That's why we are spending good drinkin' time sat here with sore fingers trying to help people who very often don't want to hear the truth. We also both know that we are in the minority in our profession and that many many people are out for what they can 'get away with'. Most, in my experience don't try to actively stitch people up however, most are simply too lazy to think things through and wouldn't know how to look at an issue from the customers perspective if that perspective were shoved forcefully where sun don't shine!

In this instance, and I readily admit it's formed without a single shred of 'evidence', that's what I feel has happened here. Laziness and a quick £20.

BTW. Maybe I'm just an ol' git but I do not change valves unless I have to. I carry about 2Ks worth of spares of all manner and much prefer to rebuild as most older stuff is so much better made and when refurbished will simply last longer. Just my £20s worth!

We ARE on the same side ;)
