Do yorkshire bank credit score for the readycash account? Has anyone been turned down. Like the sound of this one as it comes with a full maestro which sounds ideal.

Yes they conduct a credit check, as do most banks, even if it is only a basic account that you are applying to open.
This is usually just to verify your address and confirm your financial status i.e. bankrupt/iva etc.0 -
so with 2 defaults, one settled one not and some recent missed credit card payments what do you think my chances are0

I thought that basic bank accounts were supposed to be available to anybody with proof of identity, regardless of their credit record - isn't that the whole point of their existence? For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0

Yes, you can be declined for a basic account. The bank is well within their rights to turn away any applicants who dont meet the banks own eligibility criteria. Each bank is different and there is no industry standard.
The FSA never made a ruling on the issue and only made strong recommendations to banks that they have an account which caters for people with adverse credit histories. This fell short of enforcing the banks to provide an account for everyone/anyone.
If you read the Basic Bank Account thread which I started I believe I mention this in the post. If I do not, I'll add this information into the post.
In relation to Yorkshire Bank, you should be fine with your application as long as your not currently bankrupt.0 -

You can be credit checked, and possibly turned down as a result - however from the information on this sheet, it looks like in practice it's only if you're bankrupt or have committed fraud that it is likely to happen. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -
Just further to the other posts I was turned down before I even filled in the application form as they will not take on anyone who is or has been bankrupt, as far as CCJ's are concerned I think you will be fine.0
