  • Hmmmph, the spam's still there.

Oh well, lots more hamstring stretching and hip opening asanas today, plus ones to increase range of movement and strengthen the muscles to hold the joints together better. Then some forward bends and one that I always think of as being Pilates - the one where you are on all fours, then reach out with opposing limbs, then bring your knee back in and out again.

Then went on to Cobra and then cat, then downward facing dog again (but against the wall) and then a couple of hamstring stretches.

The teacher seems to have planned her classes very carefully to work up the body ever so slightly each time. So I'm thinking next Tuesday will be more back work as compared to the hip work and, tbh, I'm really looking forward to some twists and back bends, as my back feels too rigid. The Saturday teacher is different, and makes her own plans for classes.

Felt a bit wobbly legged afterwards, but that went off after a bit, and I'm just aching a bit at the moment. Roll on Saturday!

  • Has everybody else dropped out?

Had the 90 min class today. It's not calm with this teacher, there's lots of giggling and quite a bit of rudeness (eg, someone said 'When I do the shoulder stand, it feels like I'm suffocating on my own boobs, what should I do?'/'Count yourself lucky, some people pay good money for that kind of thing' :)), and it's definitely more strenuous.

Lots and lots of standing stuff - Trikonasana, warrior II, etc - and huge amounts of hamstring stretching.

I have noticed that there aren't nearly so many popping sounds from my joints - perhaps they're slightly freer now?

Feeling quite tired, especially as I needed to go and do shopping afterwards and walked home with a backpack full of stuff (mostly for the cats).

Seems like there is some extra muscle in the upper fronts of my thighs/hips, too. Need to strengthen the core muscles most though - the thought of narrowing down the tummy is quite appealing.

I had my 90 mins last night - Jojo I have no idea how you do anything after it, I just go home, collapse on the sofa and then have trouble peeling myself off it for a bath and bed :)

I'm not great on the names but we focused on hip openers last night. We did not quite as much downward dogs this time which is good cos I find it very tough on my wrists. I was quite pleased with myself though cos we did a couple of balancing poses - the Eagle one and the King Dancer one and I was one of the best in the room at them although I'm definitely one of the worst at pretty much everything else - there are some people who are absolutely amazing and can twist themselves in ways I can't even imagine.

It's definitely good exercise for the mind as well as the body! I don't think I'd especially enjoy a giggly class to be honest, I am finding the mental side of it really interesting - I would have thought I'd find it really annoying but I don't. As an example, I had to fly during the week - I don't like flying at the best of times but by using one of the yoga chants (obviously into myself :)) I made it through both flights much more calmly than before.

I reported the spam too by the way, I'm surprised it's not gone by now!
  • I havent dropped out, was just away with friends during the week and back at mine now which is over half an hour away from gym (im usually at the boyfs) so need to book into more classes.

    I've reported the spam.

In the class I did a couple of weeks ago, we did the pyramid, clam and one of the dog ones.... blimmin ached the next day!!
