Hey all,
Looked through post this afternoon and we have 71 different accounts running, whilst only using 4
I just want some incentive to get off my backside and cancel most of these.
Please someone fire a rocket up my backside!
I’ve already phoned CrapWest and asked for a current account to be closed, giving me £108.46
There’s an old savings account yielding a massive 0.1% interest, which is another £2684.31, so I’ve walked out with just under £2800 in hard cash this afternoon!
Closed 3 Lloyds CA’s (Separate and Joint) with a loving total of £91.43, £198.67 and £412.31. Savings of £126.94, £468.43, £398.12 and £717.69. They even tried to flog us a lovely 1.8% account and a £25/mth current account, which we kindly declined! Another £2413.69!
Secondly was Santander, of which there was a B&B account with £984.12 and an Abbey current account/ISA with another £196.43, meaning £1000 cash and another £180.55 to collect in the morning (had OH with me, so did 2 separate £500 transactions).
Total earnings today = (technically) £6386.91 (with another £3613.09 to find)
Anyone know any good kids accounts to bung this into? Not really impressed with HSBC Premier Kids interest rates!

Down to 64 bank accounts!

Wow, you really have let that get out of hand.
We have all of our accounts on one spreadsheet and this *must* always be just a single screen. We note the interest rate for each account, and the date when it drops, and make sure a new account is identified and opened 3-4 weeks in advance.
Maybe you need to start with the largest and close one per day for a couple of months?
<later>
OK, I just checked, and we have 16 accounts between the three of us. Ten of these are now marked bright red for TERMINATE but only one has more than a few quid in it, and that one doesn't drop in interest rate for another three weeks.
Thanks for the kick!I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

We’ve literally opened them over the last 10 years and not bothered to close them.
I’ve just found £29k in Barlcays (was initially £20k in 2003 and has sat in instant access since then!!!) I’ve specifically ordered cash for that one through telephone banking
This is on top of 4 savings accounts (1 for each of the girls) totalling another £24k! We’ve really let things get out of hand! This is going as the deposit for another BTL!
There’s also an inheritance from 2008 I’d completely forgotten about with TBC Bank (Georgia). There’s 496,431 Lari and 93 Tetri
Just found several Russian accounts, too, totalling over £540,000! Last time I was in Russia was 2001. We’ve had rent paying into the account since then, that I’ve not even bothered to chase up. We now apparently own the property outright (spoken to SverBank), as they paid the mortgage automatically when savings hit that level. It’s earning 4% atm, so not to worried about it, although how we let things get in the mess we forgot we owned a property is beyond me.
I’m suddenly worth an extra £1m-ish on what I thought I was
Bloody hell!💙💛 💔0 -
Crikey, I bet a few people on here would love to find out they were worth an extra £1m. Especially those who would be worth £1m afterwards._____________________________________________Mortgage 1 £80k paid off july 2014Mortgage 2 £213k paid off May 20210

These things happen. I recently found a bicycle at the back of the shed that I don't remember buying (the bicycle not the shed) but the frame (of the bicycke) is now the texture of weetabix so it might not be worth a million.
Of course, I'm going to take it to antiques roadshow just in case.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Thanks guys!
It was an ‘it’ll sell’ property. God on to Evans this morning who have listed the property on the market.
I will be speaking with my accountant about dealing with HMRC on this one!
We’ve had 38.4% return (average) on what we paid for it, so I’m really happy :T
I’m absolutely gobsmacked!
