Holiday Inn Stratford-any cheap deals?

I'm going to a wedding on August Bank holiday weekend (25th) and need to get a decent deal at the Holiday Inn Stratford. The best rate I can get for a single room is £87. Anybody have any ideas how to get a better deal, eg booking websites, discount vouchers etc? Thanks in advance!

Hi - if you mean Stratford on Avon then you could try other hotels - the Holiday inn is right near the centre - 5 mins walk. There are three approx 5 - 10 minutes walk. Alveston manor & Best Western Grosvenor being two, can't remember the other one. Otherwise there is plenty of other options but not quite as close. Taxis are not cheap but Stratford is not a large place so it will probably work out cheaper. Just check the hotels are IN stratford. Some say they are but are a few miles out. Also lots of B&B around if you want to go budget but they might want two+ nights booking.0

I am pretty sure that Holiday Inn chain took over Moat House chain not so long back (well the hotel I used to stay regularly in Plymouth they did). We stayed at the Moat House in Stratford and it was awful, the walls are paper thin, and I think Will Shakespeare was still around when they last got new mattresses on the beds. On the plus side it is very central for the town, but I would look elsewhere.

I think you'll have trouble getting cheap decent accommodation in SonA at Bank Holiday time (or any other come to that!). As posted above, there aren't that many hotels in the town itself - and no budget chain hotels (TL, PTI, etc.) at all.
The HI teletext offer at the moment ('til 31/3) is £75 B&B per night. That when most of them are £45-60. I've usually found this is the best deal (subject to availability!) other than trying Priceline.0
