Taxing a new car for next month

We are buying a car on sunday (well won it on ebay, picking it up sunday) - there is no tax on it, but we don't want to pay for Feb as there would only be 3 days left in the month.

Can we tax it to start from March or not? How soon in advance can you do this? (we will not use the car until 1st March so no need to tax it after it has been brought home)

When to apply

If your tax is due to run out at the end of the month, you can renew it from the fifth day of the month.

If your vehicle has been untaxed, because you’ve just bought it, the tax disc has run out or a SORN is in force, you can tax from the first day of the month in which you apply.

If you want the tax disc to start on the first day of the next calendar month, you cannot tax your vehicle more than two days in advance.

Ha ha - you float like a butterfly, but you sting like a bee. You were too quick - as i tried to edit out my error (blooming leap years).

My PC freezing didn't help (intel i3 freezing after just 3 months - sighs:().

Lol, I didn't know if I was working it out right and you were counting tuesday and wednesday as day one and day two. I am 35 weeks pregnant and wondered if it was my baby brain.
