help laptop from currys cant get fixed

i got a philips x54 from currys about 4 months ago and the hard drive has started to click like mad and the mouse keys have all fell in . so i took the laptop back to the currys i got it from and they told me they cand sort it out and tht i would have to phone a service number so i did and the guy on the other end told me he could not sort it out because i have formated the laptop and it no longer has ther operating system on it i loaded my own copy of windows xp on it . i was not told when i got the laptop that i could not format it and it didnt say on the thing i got with it . they told me to buy a disc of them for £30 with there xp on it and them phone them back the only reson i got the laptop from currys was i was told by he sales person that they were apart of pcworld and they sort it out if things go wrong is there any thing i can do as i dont want to buy a cd of philips as i payed £899 for the laptop and only had it 4 months and i think the shop should sort it not a man on a 79p a min help line
