Cheap oil changes - updates?

I have seen a few threads about places to go for cheap oil changes but following up on these locations (like NAtional tyres) have resulted in poor quotes.

Anyone know where I can get my alfa romeo oil change done? Its standard 4 litres of 10w40 semi synthetic.. and just because its alfa doesnt mean it needs to be done by Leonardo DaVinci or Catholic Monks

Im getting £50 so far... which works out cheaper if i source the oil and filter myself and get and old boy to do it for £25 labour!

Mine comes out as just over £30 on national for 4l of semi synth and a filter. (Vauxhall), I wonder why your's is so dearer?
Oil and filter for mine are £14 trade from Vauxhall in low volume, so they're charging about £20 labour.

Bought parts myself, got the work done for £15.
I'd do it myself but getting under a dirty great big Vectra, jacked up on an uneven surface, doesn't really appeal to me.

Do it yourself. It'sa doddle, you know it's been done properly, and you can buy the spec oil and filter you want, not whatever comes in the 50 Gallon drum. Dispose of used oil at a council tip. dead easy.
  • Id normally do it myself but its a bit of a pain.. the alfa doesnt have many easy access jacking points, places for axle stands etc. and bloody great splash shield that need sputting on when the cars ont he ground.. .with cable ties! :(
  • I got my oil, filters and spark plugs changed at a local Car Garage at the weekend. Cost me about £70-80. The labour was about £25. I give National Tyres and Autocare a wide berth. I got my tyres changed their once/twice. They were incredibly rude but each to their own.
My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.
