Halifax PPI - 60 days after confirmation refund and no payment

Hi
Halifax sent me a letter the first week of Jan saying I will be receiving £1650 refund from a mis-sold PPI claim on a load and I will have the cheque within 30 days.
its now almost 60 days and i dont have the letter, i have called them every single week and never get to speak to someone English, They just tell me "your cheque has not been sent, I will escalate your claim" I've been told this 10+ times, I've also asked for a manager and was put on hold for 13 minutes to then be told the manager is in a meeting and he will call me back! ... I never got the call back.
My question is... are the banks in the wrong to hold on to my money? surely if i was overdrawn by £1650 they would charge me £25 a day!
What can I do and more importantly... who can i complain too? Halifax are very bad at handing PPI and customer service is zero out of ten!

Ring the complaints number, this will be a new complaint about the way they have dealt with your claim for mis sell and you are considering going to the FOS if your redress is not paid out.

They may offer you some compensation for being messed about, you never know and it may make them get their finger out..0 -
Hi,
See my post from yesterday - almost exactly the same story!
My PPI claim was with a loan that wasnt due to be paid off until this summer - so I have called them to say that I will be stopping paying my monthly DD until they sort out the PPI - they have at least agreed not to incur me any charges.
In the mean time I think the only thing we can collectively do is to contact the PPI Ombudsman, explain what's going on & maybe they can put the boot up Halifax's behind to speed them along a bit!

After querying the £2.05 I was offered as PPI redress on one credit card, I got a revised offer at the start of December, and still haven't received the cheque for it.
I might just give that complaints number a call when I get a minute.~cherie0 -
If you all complain to Halifax on the number i gave, they may give you some compensation.0

Hi, We are in the same boat received a letter before xmas dated
the 19/12/11 telling us the amount of ppi we would receive, which we never received, contacted hfx on the 27/1 and they said because of the amount due to us it would be a bank transfer, gave
them all the details and they told us to allow 30 days for the money to go into our account, been and gone, phoned last week
and said it had been "escaleted", checked account to day and are
now awaiting a call from someone called mia. Still going to phone the complaints number. The interest was calculated until the 16th
Jan, are we due more interest.0 -
Phoned the complaints dept, stating that we were not very happy
with the way we have been treat by the halifax and we should have received payment by now, (10 week since we received the letter offer) They have now told us it will be another 14 days before we get paid out. How do they get away with that, they have told us that there is nothing they can do to speed it up.
Disgraceful halifax!!!!!!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:0 -
Still waiting Halifax! Spoke to someone on their helpline who didnt understand the term BACS!!!!!
However his line manager 'Faye' passed me a message that she gave her word that the money would arrive by the deadline which is the 13th March.....we'll see.....!
nb. The 13th March would be 58 days from the letter they originally sent (30 days they are supposed to do it in, plus 28 days after it was 'escalated'....0
