Thanks again savagej and udydudy for your helpful and thoughtful advices. I think I will go to bank tomorrow and have the occupation changed to student, at least until I finish in a few months/receive the new spouse visa in the post, for peace of mind.

(On a side note, I work 18 hours including everything (research assistant job and working from home), and I am entitled to work 20hr/wk, so I shouldn't have problem with Home Office on that front, I think)

Pichon, Sorry if my reply post to savagej gave you the wrong impression. I did not mean to intend you work longer hours than allowed. Since you mentioned you married and are awaiting spouse visa , you need not ask the bank to change you to student visa in the interim. You would obviously recieve you spouse visa soon.

My reply to savagej was as per your original post where in I would not want other forumites to think that beacuse they are on studennt visa but are working they can show themselves as employed which is not the case as I understand the way the law takes it into account. I have seen too many students suffer as a result of misinformation. yes they are employed but as per home office and the law(as I understand and experienced it) their primary occupation is student any other attempt at interpretation is fraudulent.

Your case per-se as of today is different as you are in the process of converting to spouse visa, grey area I would say, as you are a spouse now!! ;) best of luck and do not worry too much.
I think the best thing about this site is that you get different views and interpretation, you have to understand each interpretation and make your own judgement.
