Earning money from current accounts.

  • Actually psychic when FIRST launched there were people who opened up to SEVEN accounts .... then it was reduced to three (which I have) and now its one sole account and (I believe still) one joint account.

    Cheers
  • Thanks for everybodys responses. One more thing, the TCB offer ends in 3 days for £75 when opening a prefered santander current account. Santanders cashback offer of £100 ends on the 29th February and for this it says that the account must be opened by this time.

This isn't going to be possible is it?

    Thanks :)

You'd be best to put all £2500 in the Santander account, and then as described above just bounce £1000 to Halifax there and back in a day.

If you use a cashback site, you can also get something for signing up for the Santander account. TBC is offering £75 atm, and you can have two Santander accounts per customer. Be quick as it ends this week.

Do bear in mind that you must *externally* fund the Santander accounts with £1000 each month (which could be bouncing between them and Halifax).

Thanks for pointing this out! For £75 I've taken the chance and just opened the account. I'd have preferred to have left my direct debits on my Halifax account but that didn't seem to be possible. Still going to keep the Halifax open though!

I have a savings account with Santander but it says you're only not eligible if you've had one of their current accounts within the last three months. Although, if they have to allocate me an account number before the 29th (Wednesday) it seems unlikely I'll get it but you never know!

I've had an email today saying the account is open so it looks like I should be getting the £100 from Santander as well! :T
