back-up advice before PC goes off for repair

My laptop has been getting slower and slower over past couple of weeks (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A7640W 64AMD Athlon) and I have finally got round to getting a PC repair man to look at it. His initial thoughts following a discussion over the phone is that it is a problem with the processor.....speed is showing as 0.798GHz. I have 480 RAM. Easily fixable he tells me, but it will involve wiping everything off the laptop - GULP!!
I do back up my files and photos etc so thats no problem to make sure thats up to date. But any ideas on the best way to back up the following..

itunes - will the songs I have paid to download need to be copied onto my ipod? if so can I copy them back onto the laptop when I get it back? Or can I login to itunes and retrieve them again afterwards?

AOL - how do I save all the favourite website links that I have built up over the past 18 months? If I do a screen shot of the list it only gives the name, not the web address?

Also I use microsoft Money, very old version 2001. I regularly back this up but I don't have the program discs. Will a back up copy the program back onto the laptop after repair? or only hold the data

I'm sure there are loads of other things I haven't thought about..... trying to be as methodical as possible but I only have 48hrs to get this all done before machine goes off and I'm terrified I'm going to loose something I need!!
Any help or advice to stop me worrying will be most welcome

I wouldnt go down the route yet of re-installing windows, as i cant see how this will help your problem have a look HERE before he touches it

Have you ran disk cleanup, defragged etc etc.

THIS is the link to the home pageof the forum. I suggest having a good look through it for ideas yourself

iTunes - make sure you have v7
then file > backup to disc - easy :)
    then store > deauthorise computer

then once you need to put them back on install iTunes then insert the disc(s) and follow the prompts
when you first try and play a purchased song it will ask you to authorise the computer and you can then listen to all your music again. ;)

A problem with the processor is going to be solved by reinstalling windows? :rotfl:

Yes of course, reinstalling windows is the answer to every PC problem

I would take individual backups of what you need as described by others AND an image as albertross suggests. At least with that you can put it back to how it was.
