I have had a similar situation occur with HSBC Premier and am currently in the early stages of a legal action. If any body else has been a victim of HSBC misuse of CRA can they please contact me if you wish to join my action for damages from both HSBC, Equifax & Experian.
Mine was particularly annoying as the DD that took me OD was actually not due for two weeks.... HSBC refused to do anything under Direct Debit Guarantee amazingly and assert that the data is correct and they have washed their hands of it... Alas all that is left is the court...
So, if you have been stung by HSBC reporting a bounced DD as "Arrears" or as a "Missed Payment" against a credit agreement - get in touch....0 -

Are you saying NPower took the DD on an incorrect date now?
That was not what you said originally?
You can not claim under the DD scheme as the payment never actually left your account, it was returned unpaid due to insufficient funds.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Indeed.... Your comment reminds me of Schrödinger's cat...
Anyway I am warmed by the PM's from MSE users, it looks like a huge number have been stung by CRA recording incorrect data on the back of HSBC expanded use of negative flags....
Watch this space.... Interestingly what most of the PMs also mention is the increasing volume of people who work for banks on this site posting in support of rather dodgy behaviour by banks, when this is actually a consumer website not a PR exercise for the BBA....0 -

Keep us all updated.
If you can afford to pay legal bills it may be worth topping up your account to ensure their is enough funds to pay DDs to prevent the same situation happening again in future.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
That comment is in poor taste and very condescending. As far as I can tell, the person did not state his/her full situation so you have no idea why the person may have found him/herself in that situation. Sure, you can plan and have an emergency fund but even an emergency fund is finite.
Don't you think it would be more useful if we refrained from assumption and judgement and merely provide constructive, relevant advice? Plus, the person's circumstances may have now changed for the better, thereby enabling them to take legal action.
