Putting our stuff into storage..

Hello :)

Just wanted some advice on putting our household items into storage.. does anyone know how much its costs? the best and cheapest company to go with? I live in bedfordshire.. and im going to be having a re-wire done and dont want anything damaged.. so thinking its best to move it all out...any advice would be appreciated

You are more likely to get it damaged into and out of store if you are DIYing it than if you just put the contents of each room in the centre and chuck a dust sheet or two over it.

Don't even think of the likes of Mr Pickford unless you've got a big wedge to throw away.

Have you asked dear old Uncle Google about self storage in bedfordshire?

    Cheers

    Hi Keystone :)

Thanks for replying.. i was thinking this. I live in a victorian house with narrow hallways etc and stuff could get damaged on the way out.. and would be alot of hassle..:-S
  • It does seem a bit extreme... I did a complete rewire of my Edwardian house 2 years ago and didn't move anything out. The living room furniture stacked in the dining room while we were working in there, then the dining table was covered and pushed to one end while we worked in there. The other rooms didn't have any furniture removed, we just pulled the bed forward etc.

Nothing was damaged and the electricians worked around it all with very little difficulty.

The only problem we had was the front room carpet... I have a piano in there and I can not re-lay the carpet straight without removing it entirely, so I've been putting up with speed bumps for the last couple of years! :rotfl:
