insurance being very awkward, help

    If AXA rejected a payout on the basis that you undervalued the items you could check the valuation is correct. Any jeweller will be able to do this for you (I assume LMG went by pictures of the items .... a jeweller can do same). Of course this costs and the costs vary but if LMG had grossly over valued the items it would help in the event of a complaint.

    Again, despite the further advice you have received on this thread I have to point out that the FOS would expect you to have complained to the insurer and allowed adequate time for a response (8 weeks). Often complaints can be resolved with the insurer with no need to involve the FOS (who takes aggggggges to respond. I have previously complained to FOS and they took 8 months to come back to me). If say, LMG had valued the items wrong then your insurer would of course want to know about it so they could resolve internally...my bet anyway is that they will pay upto the limit on your policy
