Savings account with no mobile phone and not UK resident?

When I try to open savings accounts I come across 2 problems;
I am not UK resident and I don't have a mobile phone. Nor do I want one!
Is there a bank that will let me open a regular account given the details above so I can put about 60k in? I tried Santander and they were useless.

Several threads on here about non-res accounts. Do a search.

Your stumbling block with Santander will be the non-residency rather than the lack of a mobile phone. (I opened two accounts with Santander using a relative's UK address and I never had to give a mobile phone number.)

I suggest you try Investec whom I found very helpful and keen to attract new business (unlike most UK banks which these days only seem to want to put up obstacles to new business). Their new High5 or High10 accounts may suit you (they amount to 3 and 6 month notice accounts paying about 3.1% on 25k+), and they also have 1 and 2-year time deposits paying a little more.

Also Yorkshire (Clydesdale) Bank.

Dont forget to fill in a form R105.
