Tips on saving on my electricity bill?
Options
Hi all,
I've recently moved into a new home (on my own). Yay me.
I'm wondering if any of you had tips on how I can save the most on my electricity bill. What types of light bulbs should I be using to conserve the most energy and to save as well? Any advice would be appreciated!

First of all so that you can compare, get a handle on your consumption by taking daily meter readings for a week, then weekly readings for a month. Always check and correct any estimated readings on bills.
Are you "all electric" or do you have gas for space and water heating?0 -

CFL's are the cheapest light bulbs to run. They used to send them to you for free just ask your supplier or find them cheap from somewhere. I've still got loads of them sitting in the drawer. They can be quite dark when just turned on so I don't have them in the hall or the bathroom. I use halogen's instead but they cost more to run. http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=halogen+light+bulb&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=mAf&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:unofficial&prmd=imvns&psj=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1280&bih=671&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=2850538329013793818&sa=X&ei=41hFT_TUMYrJ0QW37ZHzAw&ved=0CLsBEPMCMAk:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

Forget light bulbs, it's heating and hot water that use most of your power (as I assume it's an all-electric flat).
Use a comp site with your estimated annual kWh figures to find the cheapest tariff. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
